I’m David, and I build websites for small businesses near Cambridge — and beyond.

I’ve been building websites for years, starting with sites for my own businesses before friends and colleagues began asking me to help with theirs. That’s how it tends to go — you do a good job, word gets around.
I also run Excel Guru, where I build custom spreadsheet solutions for businesses across the UK and Europe. Between the two, I spend most of my time helping small businesses get more out of their technology — without the jargon, without the unnecessary complexity, and without the inflated agency fees.
You’ll always deal directly with me.
No account managers. No junior staff doing the actual work while someone else takes the credit. When you contact David Builds Websites, you get David — from the first conversation to the day your site goes live, and beyond.
I take the time to understand your business before I touch a single page. A website should reflect how you actually work and what your customers actually need — not just look nice on a screen.
What you can expect from me
- You are always in control — I’ll guide you, but you have the final say
- Fixed prices and realistic timelines — no surprises
- Every site built from scratch — no templates, unique to your business
- Mobile-friendly, fast-loading, and optimised for Google as standard
- You own your domain, your files, and your hosting account — always
- I’m happy to help long after launch — just get in touch
I know what can go wrong
I’ve seen the horror stories first hand — disappearing designers, locked-in clients, sites built on stolen images, domain names held to ransom. It’s one of the reasons I started doing this properly. You’ll always own your domain, your files, and your hosting account. No lock-in, ever.
Based near Cambridge — working across the UK
Most of my clients are local, and I’m happy to meet face to face. But geography doesn’t have to be a barrier — I work with clients across the UK and everything can be handled by phone, email, or video call if that suits you better.
If you’d like a straight conversation about what your website should be doing for your business, get in touch. No obligation, no hard sell.
